GM Mill Watermain Lining

PROJECT: HDPE Lining of Two 24” Mill Water Mains at GM

Project Details:

General Contractor – The State Group

Year – 2018 – 2019

Scope – The State Group, a reputable local general / millwright contractor while performing work at General Motors reached out to Kandey Company after a serious leak developed in the existing north 24” PCCP mill water main in the median of two local major highways.
Upon installation of two 24” isolation valves on the north and south mill water main isolating leak, Kandey Company, The State Group and General Motors developed a plan to line both existing 24” PCCP mill water mains with 20” HDPE butt fuse pipe & fittings from existing pump station along the Niagara River, beneath I 190, up median slope, beneath River Road and connection to existing 24” PCCP within GM property. Kandey Company also lined the existing 12” Fire service with 8” HDPE along same route.
Completion of this project provided General Motors a complete fused mill water and fire protection system from the Niagara River to General Motors property eliminating the risk of future leaks at those major highways.
